March 18, 2010

So first two days in the ship. We left Montevideo yesterday and now we’re in Buenos Aires. The work is crazy and I’m not exaggerating, but if this is the way to learn speed and accuracy in the kitchen, then I guess I’m in the right place. I just think a ten month contract is too much. Can’t do anything now..

Anyway, to those people especially my friends who are reading this right now. I miss you guys! And hope everything is well back home.

Ps. Sorry if it didn’t go through as planned.. I miss you too though…

March 19, 2010

So for the next 10 months I’m going to be on Breakfast duty. So far, it’s been pretty tough since I have to wake up at three in the morning everyday and my shift ends at nine in the evening. Like what I said the other day. Work is crazy, but if I will be the best in what I do, I should be able to get through this. According to a lot of people here in the ship, this is the best position in the kitchen because of loads of free time. I don’t know, but right now, I don’t need free time. Free time = loneliness so, no thanks. You really feel the need to belong with your friends and family when you’re halfway around the world away from them. I hope I get used to this quickly. It’s gets harder and harder by the day.

On other things, I really miss home. I mean, I really really miss home. As of now it’s 1137 there on a Friday and if I was there right now, I’m probably at JP’s drinking or doing some other stuff with Brian, Anton or the other lot. One of my bosses said that when you board any ship, you’ll be able to do whatever it is the hell you want. But on the other hand, it’s no doubt that when you get back. You’ll be a new man. You’ll have a totally different lifestyle and the people you know back home will barely recognize you. I hope that’s not entirely true.

Anyway, I just get to Blog during my breaks and I don’t send it right though since internet here is expensive. So I’m going to send it collectively. So much for twitter and tumblr I guess.

Hope everybody’s having a great Friday night.

When I woke up new years morning, I didn't think I'd end up in Montevideo today.. Talk about fate.. Good Job! :)

March 16, 2010

LAX
The last time I was here was probably 11 years ago or more. I’m not so sure on how much it’s changed, but it’s a spitting image and a smaller version of Chicago’s O’Hare Anyway, so far so good, I’ve been hanging out with the other Seafarers and they’re not so bad. Or maybe I just don’t have a choice. But anyway, I got to work with what I have and they’re all I have as for company for the moment.

On other things, we’ll be heading to Miami in a few hours and it’s pretty boring down here without internet. Shit.. I still can’t upload my and post in the Blog. Once I get a decent connection I’ll post right away.

3:30AM – Current Manila time. If I were home right now, I’m probably just about to go to bed.

Miami to Montevideo

I wasn’t able to blog when we were at Miami, but we had a 3 hour delay with our flight and so instead of leaving at 11PM we left at 2AM nearing 3. So we are en route to Montevideo, Uruguay. I sure hope there’s internet in that freaking hotel!

4:30PM - Current Manila time. If I was in Manila right now, I’d probably be with the Rents drinking coffee in Figaro. Man am I gonna miss that place..

Manila to Japan:

So here we go. I’m airborne, and there’s no turning back. So far it’s been really heavy leaving home knowing that you won’t be back awhile but, you got to do what you got to do. Anyway, I’m 35,000 feet up and Blogging.. This would be the first of many Mon and World entries.

I’ll try taking pictures in Narita once we get there. And uploading them right away, so that you’ll have an idea on where I am already. BTW, the Japanese flight attendant is pretty hot. She’ll sure get your tray in an upright position.. HAHA

So, see you in Japan!

Oh yeah, follow me on Tumblr too.

Japan to LAX

Again, I’m airborne. I wasn’t able to take good pictures in Narita since we only had just had a few minutes waiting time for our connecting flights. But nonetheless I love Japan, or at least the airport. Even though we weren’t in the same gate where Me and my family would always used to wait and board in, it’s still technically the same. But of course, the other one is still better.

This is actually the longest flight I’ve been in without my family and thus, I’m really starting to miss them. Looking around awhile back while was lining up to use the lavatory, I saw this little Australian kid, annoying the hell out of her mom. It kinda reminded me on how I was when it was my first time flying to the states with them.. I still remember that feeling of excitement, anticipation and restlessness. And now I’m flying alone to L.A and then to Miami and then to Uruguay.

I haven’t been gone a day and I miss everyone already. I guess this is normal. I hope it is. Next stop would be LAX. I’ll try and take good pictures and post it.

7PM – Current Manila Time, If I was home, I’d probably be watching the Simpson’s on the Fox network and be Jogging after..

So.. see you in L.A.

I'll see YOU in a few days.. :)

My First tumblr Post:

I feel like a traitor actually since I’ve been using blogger for the past 8 years and now I’m on Tumblr. To tell you the truth, If this whole Tumblr thing was invented 8 years ago, I probably wouldn’t be in blogger in the first place. Sure, there were already themes back then so that you wouldn’t really have to mess with the HTML of your blog and how can I forget, Picasa was created so that picture posting would be easier (honestly, maybe it’s just me, but I thought Picasa was crap). But still, compared to what we had to do before just to make our blogs look goood and make more sense, this is just way easier and more convenient.Technology.. You got to love it..

But anyway, I’ll still post on the other one. It’s just pretty nice to have another web log to fiddle with once in a while..

Oh yeah, before I forget, another reason why I’m on Tumblr is because I made my sister in law a blog just a few hours ago and this is one of my ways of checking it out.. awesome.. now I’m just babbling..

Follow me on tumbler if you want

This blog will remain operational! blogger for life!! hehehe

It's the first time in my whole life that I'm actually feeling those damn butterflies and cold feet. FUUUUUCK!!!! I HATE THE FEELING!!!

One after Feb

So it's March and I'm still here in the country. Blame the company and not me, I'm actually all good to go and itching to leave already, and since I'm still here I guess Christmas will be canceled and so is new year. And my birthday and a whole lot of other things that If things went according to plan won't be canceled. Annoying really but whatever.. That's life, what would complaining do anyway? so why bother.

On other things, I know I've noticed this for a long time now and It's the first time I'm actually saying this but the Dave Matthews Band still sound good, but It would be so much better If Leroi was still around. Honestly, I was never really into horns, it's just because of the Dave Matthews Band and Leroi Moore's Saxophone that I got interested and appreciated good brass (Thank you Leroi). So now I actually miss Leroi Moore and his saxophone. There are just some songs in the new album, that when they play it live, a saxophone fill would sound better than a guitar solo (No offense Tim Reynolds, I love you're playing, your guitar solo at the Plaza Napoleon version of "Funny the way it is" is one of the most honest guitar solos I've heard in a long time). I just have to say that Leroi Moore's saxophone would probably make every song in the new album fit perfectly (Rashawn Ross and Jeff Coffin, your brass playing makes the in between's of songs sound great, great job but it's no Leroi).

In closing, the Dave Matthews Band sound will never be the same, It will still sound good, don't get me wrong. But It will never be the same.. Leroi Moore, The Groo Grux King.. I miss you as a fan and most of all thank you for the great saxophone playing.
