1-3: The White's Finish 2003 on top of the Table

Real Madrid ran out winners against Mallorca by 1-3, which puts them at top of the table for the beginning of the year. Queiroz' boys had to take some pains to turn the match round, as they really got into trouble when the locals took the lead ten minutes into the game. It was a slip of the white defence, but then Raul and Ronaldo were there to turn the match round. The The Brazilian scored the second and paved the way for the third making the final result a comfortable win for Madrid.

The local target proved a hard blow for Madrid. Zidane and Borja, who had been the leaders of the play, lost their possession and they seemed to be at a loss for a while. But they did not take much longer to show their skills, as their dangerous moves put the home area under threat again. Querioz' boys were undoubtedly getting all the credits for a goal and it eventually came out of Raul's head at stoppage time. The result was then fairer in view of the contribution of each side to the game. The fight was to go on after the break.

THE MATCH:
MALLORCA: Leo Franco; Cortus, Nadal, Lussenhoff, Olaizola (Toni Gonzalez, 53'); Nagore (Perera, 69'), Colsa; Raul Martin, Correa, Nene (Stankovic, 58'); and Etoo.

REFEREE: Medina Cantalejo, Andalusia Referees Association. Yellow card to Helguera and Colsa.

3-4: Raul achieves an troubled qualification for last sixteen

Raul's target in troubled the sixth minute of the extra time gave Real Madrid the qualification for the last sixteen. Though it was Solari who actually made it possible by drawing the score in the 87th minute, which forced the extra time. Beckham and Raul had previously put their team in the lead, but Borja hit the white goal twice and made the draw. In the second half Pavon scored an own-goal and made qualification a tougher job. Both sides have grown remarkably tired by the time they had to play the 30 extra minutes. But Raul's goal finally settled the Spanish Cup round. Real Madrid will be in the draw for the last sixteen next Friday.

SURVIVAL GUIDE TO DRIVING IN
THE PHILIPPINES
THE FILIPINO DRIVER GREETING:

When greeting a Filipino driver, slowly lower your window and be Prepared to greet the driver with, "Tang namo, bobo." However, if you have been already addressed by a fellow driver, reply with a joyful, "Tang namo rin, gago."

ON TURN SIGNALS:
If a driver in another lane turns on the turn signal, do not let him go into your lane. In fact, press the accelerator and start driving right next to him/her. The fellow driver will probably greet you and you already know what to do.

ON TRAFFIC LIGHTS:
These amusing artifacts hang from intersections for no apparent reason. Sometimes you will see drivers stop to see the colors change on these lights (a fascinating experience). Government officials (specifically police) believe that each color stands for an instruction for drivers to follow.

From pure observation I have determined the following instructions for each color:

Yellow light
- accelerate your car as much as possible.

Red light
- this light gives permission to the next five to six cars to go through.

Green light
- reduce speed and wait for the five to six cars passing through their respective red lights.

Little-known-fact: Time to start honking your horn, as soon as the light turns green = 1.5 seconds.

ON CHANGING LANES:
Changing lanes has been elevated to an art form in the Philippines. First of all, no matter what you do, never ever turn on your turn signal, otherwise you'll stimulate the reaction described above. Second, swerve your car uncontrollably to the lane you want to
change, preferably if you end up within inches of a car in that lane. At this point a greeting from the other driver may be in order. To perfect your change of lanes, reduce the speed of your car dramatically in a matter of seconds and you will see an action-packed reaction from the car behind you.

ON TRAFFIC JAMS:
Traffic Jams are teeming with fun filled activities such as:

Honking your horn rhythmically.
Putting on make-up (usually female drivers only).
Nose-pickers sightseeing (not to be confused with people who scratch their brains through their nose).
Reducing speed to watch whatever is causing the traffic jam. Add excitement by trying to see if you know the parties involved. (Note: Every Filipino driver is obliged to do this.)
Losing weight by sweating like a pig as a result of a lack of airconditioning.
Greeting other drivers.
Practicing lane changing.
Playing the game: Let's see how close I can get to you before rear-ending you.

ON PEDESTRIANS:
These individuals are an annoyance to the Filipino driver. If you see pedestrians in your way, accelerate your car to let them know who's the boss. If you are at an intersection, let the pedestrians know you want to proceed by accelerating your car and honking at the last possible moment.

ON SOCIAL SITUATIONS:
Bumping into a friend while driving (not to be taken literally) is a joyful occasion. Drivers should reduce speed and stop their cars in the middle of the street and chit chat. What about other drivers? Well, they can wait.

ON HIGHWAY DRIVING:
Bottleneck Formation - To accomplish this type of driving, cars must block all lanes by driving at the same speed and side by side (to avoid other cars to pass). It is important to drive at a speed at least 20 mph below the speed limit.

The Three-Lane-Change - This movement requires a lot of precision and creativity. It should be done around the highest number of cars possible and in a matter of seconds to create what others may refer to as widespread panic.

HERE'S ANOTHER RULE FOR DRIVING IN THE PHILIPPINES

When the lanes going in your direction are jammed with cars, try using the lanes from the oncoming traffic. They are probably not occupied anyway because the oncoming cars are stuck as well. How many of the other direction's lanes should you occupy? As long as there are lanes from the other direction to occupy, go ahead and take more lanes.

This move is sure to elicit previously mentioned greetings from drivers of the oncoming cars (and some have been known to get down from their cars to personally deliver the greeting to the out of lane driver). 9 out of 10 times it's sure to make the traffic worse but then, hey, there's that 1 in 10 chance that you might actually get through sooner than all those law-abiding losers. Filipino drivers think that that 1 in 10 chance is reason enough to risk their life and limb and being profusely greeted (besides, you can always turn up the windows and pretend that you don't hear the greeting from the other drivers).

With every day bullshit I'm goin' through
I be hopin' to make it through another day
Lookin' for another day to live my life
And please get away
I don't stay high
That really all I got for ya, this life is crazy
I might go Crazy if I'm down, don't let them break me
So I stop and I pray to God, O lord forgive my worthy life
And help me through this pain of mine
pray and I pray
That I could just see the light a fly away
But I know I can call on when I'm all alone
When ever I fall and fall..

Situation got me thinkin' was it worth this
And then it got me thinkin' cause I love this
Stay down and it'll work ya self at time don't be a slave by these choices in life
Everybody wants that miracle just so far from where I go and if its meant to be
Then it comes for show, you know
And I know, I know it gets hard some times
But don't you give up its going to be better times if you believe just believe
There's no tellin' what you receive
If in proof just look at me,
And you got to love this gift we been blessed with. I do
Number one and nobody can touch this you know
Gotta hit my knees and let them know I thank you wit out you
Where would I be
Where would I go?

1-2: Brazilians Break Camp Nou Jinx!

Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo made history repeat itself. His targets gave Real the triumph at Camp Nou, which had been denied to the Whites in Liga for twenty years. The thing that will certainly pass into history is Casillas’ gloves. Iker stood up to save his team when it was going through the worst moments. Besides, this win has a double significance as it also allows Queiroz’ boys to stick to the top position. Real Madrid did not quite give the finishing touch to its control of the game. The usual lethal play was not shown on the field, so the locals managed to even the fight up in terms of possesion of the ball. It was the 35th minute of play when Casillas had to get down to the job and save the goal that Xavi could have scored from a free kick. This action seemed to spark off the white pride. The response could not be more clear: Beckham saw Zidane unmarked, the Frenchman held off until Roberto Carlos stepped in to fire. The ball hit Reiziger and then went into the net (37’). The target was hit when least expected, but it was obvious it had to come from the amazing play Madrid showed in the left flank.

Ronaldo-Roberto Carlos partnership
Real Madrid’s danger dropped. They needed a bit of a push to get back into the game. Figo took care of giving the push to Roberto Carlos, who, in an electrifying move, sent the ball to Ronaldo’s feet. The Brazilian striker was in his element, inside the area, and showed no mercy. His low missile touched the net. It was the Brazilian connection working perfectly well again. 20 years later Real wins the classic again at Camp Nou. The Whites had not beaten Barcelona in an away Liga game since 1983.

Rijkard sent Saviola on seeking a feat. Kluivert made the dream possible with a perfect header (82’). It was time to suffer. A win at Camp Nou is never an easy task. Casillas, a minute later, had to show his skills in order to prevent the draw in a one-to-one fight with Gerard. The home side charged the the visitors in a desperate attempt to rally. But then, Queiroz’ boys managed to keep in the lead. December 6th will be a historical date in the Barcelona-Real Madrid record. Madrid stays at the top. It was a possible thing to do.

THE MATCH
1 - BARCELONA: Valdes; Gabri (Overmars, 45’), Puyol, Reiziger, Van Bronckhorst; Xavi, Cocu, Motta (Saviola, 77’); Gerard; Luis Garcia (Cuaresma, 45’) and Kluivert.
2 - REAL MADRID: Casillas; Salgado, Pavon, Raul Bravo, Roberto Carlos; Helguera, Beckham; Figo, Raul (Solari, 85’), Zidane; and Ronaldo (Portillo, 76’).
GOALS:
0-1 (37’): Zidane kicks towards the edge of the area and Roberto Carlos beats Valdes after the ball brushes Reiziger.
0-2 (73’): Ronaldo beats Valdes with a powerul shot.
1-2 (82’): Kluivert, header, from a corner kick.
REFEREE: Carmona Mendez (Extremadura Referees Association). He cautioned Motta, Roberto Carlos, Cocu, Puyol, Xavi, Salgado.
STADIUM: Camp Nou. 92.500 spectators. Liga Matchday 15. Before the game, Tennis players Corretja and Costa played a tie break in the middle of the field and singer Beth performed some of her tunes. A minute of silence was kept in memory of former Barcelona player Pesudo.

2-0: The White's Back on Top!

Sixteen seconds into the game and Ronaldo paved the way to the win as well as to the top position. Twenty minutes later Raul made the win clearer with the second target. Real Madrid dominated the encounter from start to end without much trouble. David Beckham was again the best white player of the game. It was another great night of football for Real, as they have ended up at the top position of the table. The Whites will be visiting Barcelona on Saturday, standing ten points ahead of the Catalan side, which surprisingly lost tonight in Zaragoza (5-1).

The visiting defenders were put through trouble every time the ball fell at Ronaldo's feet. The Brazilian, who had already scored his 11th Liga match, was the main receptor of passes. It was clear for Madrid that they had to control the midfield play if they do not want any nasty surprise. They managed to do so in the last bit of the first half and in part of the second one. The danger to Casillas' goal always came whenever the failed to control the midfield. Ronaldo and Raul kicked two shots into the woodwork, so the visitors still had some chance to rally after one hour of play.

Despite the favourable result, Madrid kept trying at another score. Torres was close on two occasions. It seemed that Atlético had the intiative in its hands, but the win and leadership did not seemed to be in any danger for Real. Guti came on for Raul in the late minutes of play. The derby and the triumph remained at Bernabeu. Real is visiting Camp Nou as leader ten points above Barcelona.

THE MATCH:
2 - REAL MADRID: Casillas; Salgado, Roberto Carlos (Solari 90´), Helguera, Raul Bravo; Beckham, Helguera, Zidane, Figo; Raul (Guti 82´) and Ronaldo (Portillo 87´).
0 - AT. MADRID: Burgos; Gaspar, Simeone, Lequi, Sergi; Nosigevo, De los Santos, Ibagaza, Musampa (Rodrigo 60´); Nikolaidis (Paunovic 60´) and Fernando Torres.
GOALS:
1-0, min. 1: Ronaldo dribbles past Simeone and lifts up the ball over Brugos in a top-class shot.
2-0, min. 20: Beckham's thirty-metre pass to Raul, who heads into the net facing the halfway advance by the visiting keeper.
REFEREE: Pino Zamorano, Castilla-Leon Referees Association. He cautioned Simeone, Salgado, Musampa, De los Santos, Sergi, Figo, Lequi.
OTHER FACTS: Liga Matchday 14. Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, full. Field of play in perfect conditions. Ivan Luis Zamorano took the kick-off of honour.

I wasn't expecting to you awhile ago.. but i did.
I thought i wouldn't see you today.. but i did.
I never thought i would talk to you today.. but i did.

The whole day i wasn't thing of you. The whole day.. but when dusk came and i was about to end my day, that's when you came. Ain't that something, you just had to show up. Now i'm thinking of you again. Now i can say that not a day goes by that i ain't thinking of you.. you know what i mean?! this ain't anything bad.. but you know i guess this say that i like you that much.. damn.. 1-1: The White's Draw against Osasuna

Third time no luck..., but nearly. Real Madrid earned a valuable point from their visit to one of the toughest grounds in first division. They played a spotless Osasuna, which showed its standing on the table and its aspiration to European goals. The Whites played very seriously and managed to get over the first blow by local forward Bakayoko. Their reaction was fantastic and the target was finally hit by Ronaldo in the second half. Beckham had to leave the field with an injury after doing the best performance of the Whites alongside the Brazilian striker. He had to be replaced in the late minutes when Queiroz' boys were showing their best play.

THE MATCH:
1 - OSASUNA: Sanzol; Izquierdo, Josetxo, Cruchaga, Antonio Lopez; Valdo (Webo, 77'), Punal, Pablo García, Moha (Pinheiro, 67'); Aloisi (Rivero, 67') and Bakayoko.

1-2: The Whites win Because of Beckham and Ronaldo!

Beckham and Ronaldo have put Real Madrid very close to leadership. The Whites set the pace of tonight's electrifying ardous encounter. This pace benefited Madrid without leaving much of a chance to Marseille. The Englishman did covered the midfield most thoroughly in a display of all his potential. Raul Bravo also did a remarkable job marking Droga. Mido's goal in the second have was neutralised by Ronaldo's some ten minutes later. The Marseillese fans showed all their affection towards Zidnedine Zidane when the French midfielder got replaced by Guti five minutes from time. Next December 9th, Real will be playing for the top position of its group in a home match in Bernabeu.

Casillas' goal was in danger only once in the whole first half. Former Celta player Mido wasted the best chance for his side. Real Madrid did not like the type of game its rival wanted so they just kept waiting. Their patience was rewarded in the sixteenth minute. Zidane, Roberto Carlos, Figo and Ronaldo made an interplay resulting in a free kick from the edge of the area. David Beckham made it 0-1 with a kick similar to the ones by his countryman Jonny Wilkinson. The home keeper failed to save Beckham's awesome shot.

THE MATCH:
1 – OLYMPIQUE MARSEILLE: Runje; Van Buyten, Meite, Ecker, Christanval; Hendami, Celestini, Meriem, Vachousek (Sytchev 71´); Mido (Fernandao 80´) and Drogba.
2 – REAL MADRID: Casillas; Salgado, Roberto Carlos (Solari 80´), Helguera, Raúl Bravo; Cambiasso, Beckham, Figo, Zidane (Guti 85´); Raul and Ronaldo (Ruben 94´).
GOALS:
0-1, min. 34: Beckham scores from a free kick that slots in by the corner of the goal. 1-1, min. 62: Centre shot from Meriem's flank, Mido sends it in.
1-2, min. 72: Figo sets off a counterattack, Zidane goes on with it, then Raul makes it easier for Ronaldo to score.
REFEREE: Anders Frisk. Vachousek, Raúl, Beckham got cautioned.

I just realized that this shit is already 1 year old.. Ain't that the Shieet!? i never thought i'd last this long. I always thought that this would be just and all that. Anyway, I was browsing through my old entries and all that.. Have i been through that much shit?! Damn! Ain't that something and im still standin'.. HAHA!

-----

What is a blog without tight production?! Content is just as important, but the average reader reads the passion and meaning, Making the Lyricist's job difficult. 1 year in the making with both Lyricist-slash-Experiences, Don't get it twisted. It's not a game!

-----

In my last entry, i conversed about not going to Maricar's party and all that because i knew she would be there, and also i would lie low with all this shit.. Well, she gave me a call and what do you know, i ended up taking her there (So much for my lying low huh?!)... Anyway, as always i had to keep my composure, and i guess that's what i did. I can say that i had a wonderful time and all that despite the bitter-sweetness of all this shit.. The Twins were as always, funny and all that. Pisha was still as Crazy as always, Mich was really drunk, Anton and Miguel were still the same. Mer, well she's was drunk like her sister Mich. And Her.. What more can i say?! she's still as beautiful as she always is.. I'm Hitting the sack... PEACE I'm Out!

Lying low a nice way of saying i'm leaving or something like that. It's like sugar coating your goodbye in order for the other party to be steady about it. You know what i mean?!

I am Lying low for awhile from the people that i call "The Happy People". Reason's I don't want to mention but i guess to those people who know.. i hope you guys understand. Maybe its a bit shallow or even pathetic but you know i think maybe its for my own good. Giving space and all that so she can move a bit easier. And i can too. I guess you were right Miguel. Like you said "Sometimes one has to leave the picture in order to get the balance back". She can't be the one to leave, So i guess it'll have to be me.. Thank You.. I Appreciate Everthing.. PEACE.. I'm Out!

---

Oh yeah.. Happy Birthday Maricar! I'm sorry i won't be there! I'll make it up to you somehow!

The whole weekend I was in a retreat with the Youth Ministry (Youth Encounter #1). It was this retreat place in Mount Makiling that's full of Nuns and stuff. The place is steady. Mountain breeze and all that with tall trees, and a view of the whole Metro. It was aight, i was cool, nothing that life changing and all that but pretty much it was interesting. The Retreat master Father Ditto was really good, But at the same time He was really boring (even the Youth Yaya's Kuya Paul, Ate Rose and Raffy was about to fall asleep!).. Oh yeah, There was this Activity in our last night there that made me smile in a way. It was this affirmation circle. Its where you just shut up and people say what they think about you. That's basically it.. Anyways, Conversating with the people after hours was the peak of the weekend. we were just hanging around, smoking and all that.. you know just a simple "Tambay". We stayed up until 4 a.m. (oh yeah, our call time was 7:30) and we were just chatting. We were kinda wishin' that we wern't there for a retreat anymore because of the steadiness of the place.. Before i forget on our last night the we had a praise and worship. All I can say is, we worshipped like there was no tomorrow. And it was Great..

To wrap it all up, this weekend was something nice.. eventhough what i was planning (Talk to someone in private..) didn't really happen.. it was really nice.. To the people who were there and made that trip possible... Thank You, I appreciate it.. PEACE!

A Lost Soul's Broken tears,
Feel it bit by bit..

Every tear is every passion..

From lookin' for affection in wrong places..
my lesson be learned,
the world turns, the early bird gets the worm..
What if it's nothing while you rushin' for love and get burned?
it was all this publicity and all this hype..
all these lime light,
they never really kney you're the one i really liked..
Is there anything more i can do my only option is to be true..
I like you boo, more than you'll ever know..
I'll be silent but yes, i'll let it show..
my deepest thoughts, yeah i'll let it go.

What am I goin' through.. if only you knew..

---

Random Thoughts

Oh God help me identify my truest thoughts..
your hidden motives full of passion who would of thought,
Death scares me, but Jesus will prepare me, and hopefully repair me as God would want him to, really really, People see me as something, watch your sins, then it's true you can be born again...

#72 (Live, Dreaming.. Taking it One day at a time)

Sometimes its hard to wake up in the morning
Mind full of demons, I don't wanna hear them anymore..
Got me heartbroken,fine,
so many thoughts screaming
Cause i see what happens before my day starts goin'
So i start smoking weed, i'll never get my day
Until i learn to pray, keep our families in shape
Cause they all smoked. and why do we all get high?!
Before we learn to fly, before we reach our goals in time..
Smoking weed, can all make a change
So I'm told,
but I haven't seen the change unfold,
I keep hoping please, if you prefer to breathe,
Communities in need of people that will lead
Keep your eyes open now, can only say I'll try
Until the day I die, I promise to be wise
With my heart open free, brings only misery
A way to tragedy, so I stay sucker free
Only a few chosen, rise
Don't be afraid to try
Too many of us tried to the door to open wide
My brother be wise, stay focused on the prize
Though everybody dies
We can...

One Day at a Time..

Only learn to take, our anger and our hate
Control our mental state, settle down, and just set it straight
Maybe we can learn to take a second to pump the brakes
For we said it, regret it later, and let it escalate
Cause by then its too just late, theres so much we can take
Theres only so much someone can swallow and tolerate
To the point that he just breaks, snaps and thats all it takes
You'd think that we was learning from other people's mistakes
But we aint
Its plain to go against, with every person, comes the image he portrays
And a picture that he paints
But in the midst of all this anger and this angst
Never once did you hear me say I'm a gangster and I aint hear no complaints
But I know, that I will always continue to grow,
As long as I lead and never follow no one else's shadow..
There will never be another me
And that I can guarantee
Thats why the fuck I remain sucker free to this day
The game will never be the same
No matter how much fame or success they attain
There will never be another me
And no matter what they do
There will never be another you
You can search but you'll never find
You can try to rewind time
But in your hearts and your minds
We will never die
We are forever alive
And we continue growing....

One Day at a time..
...One day at a time. Damn!

It's the first time in a long time that i feel the angst floing through me. Was i that nice for a long time?! have i contained my angst for that long?! it's like adrenaline, i feel the sudden rush in me. I used to know where i'm getting this. But now don't know where it's headin' from. from Frustration?! maybe.. from fallin' too hard and no one to be there to catch you.. probably.. i don't know.. I hope no one crosses me today..

#71 (Fool to Think..)

Look at me dreaming of you
All I could hope is to have you
To have you walking with me
Laughing so in love, we two
Almost drunkenly
I did imbibe of this
Fantasy of you and me

Was I a fool to think?
The way you looked at me
I swear you did
But you looked away too quick
Was I a fool, was I a fool to think
That you would take me home
As if I was yours
Was I a fool to think at all?

I've grown tired of love
You are the trouble with me
I watch you walk right by
I smile, you do not notice me
Treat me recklessly
All you do is toss me pennies out
But the silence in me is screaming
Won't you come and get me?

Was I a fool to think?
The way you looked at me
I swear you did
But you looked away too quick
Was I a fool, was I a fool to think
That you would take me home
As if I was yours
Was I a fool to think at all?

You make a mess of me here
I dance a thousand steps for you
If you say yes to me
I'll be whatever gets you through...

4-1: Dissapointing

Real Madrid suffered a serious defeat in Seville (4-1) in a game that was worth the top position of the table. But the absences in the white defence proved to be more significant than everybody expected beforehand. The scoreboard was showing a categorical 4-0 by halftime. After the break the look of the play changed as Madrid put the local side under siege enjoying a good number of opportunities to score. But then the four goals from the first half proved a too heavy burden. Hardly five minutes into the game and Real Madrid suffered the first stroke from which they failed to recover. Fortune was on the local side and, in the end, proved a determinant factor of the play we were to see on the field. The first evidence of this occurred a few minutes later when Dario Silva rounded off an action that Reyes has started off.

THE MATCH
SEVILLA: Esteban; Alves (Njegus 88´), Pablo Alfaro, Javi Navarro, David; Redondo (Oscar 91´), Casquero, Marti; Reyes; Antonito (Hornos, 65') and Darío Silva.
REAL MADRID: Casillas; Pavon, Helguera, Ruben (Solari, 26’), Rau Bravo; Beckham, Guti; Figo, Raul, Zidane; Ronaldo.
GOALS:
1-0. (5’): Ruben clears with his head, the ball hits Helguera and bounces into Casillas' net.
2-0. (6’): Reyes passes to Dario Silva who rounds the move up.
3-0. (15´): Daniel Alves beats Casillas when the keeper came forward to tackle.
4-0. (39’): Casquero gets around the white defence once again.
4-1. (52): Ronaldo with a cross shot after Esteban had come forward.
REFEREE: Tristante Oliva, Murcia Referees Association. Yellow cards to Ruben, Pavon, Figo, Raul, Esteban, Daniel, Hornos and Oscar, Caparros and to Sevilla representative. Guti Dario Silva were sent off.
OTHER FACTS: Liga Matchday 11. Sancez Pijuan Stadium. Almost full. A light rain poured down for most of the time. Pavon played his 100th First Division game and Guti his 200th.

White's Draw in Partizan

The draw in Belgrade, together with Porto's win, have secured Madrid's qualification for the last sixteen. The game seemed a repeat of what we saw in Zaragoza one week back. The Whites did not display much of a precise shooting at goal. But still, the tenth point earned at this first stage has enabled Real to meet its first objective of the season. On the other hand, it is going to be very hard for Partizan to qualify for the next round, as it has won only two points. Roberto Carlos had only enjoyed eleven minutes of play when he got injured from a free kick. Real's 600th Champions League goal was not scored today on Figo's 31st birthday. The game was played in very cold weather and on a pretty rough field.

The effort made by both sides during the first half had worn them out to face the second one. But it was Partizan that seemed more tired. The Spaniards seemed more at ease handling the ball around the field resulting in some dangerous approaches to Pantic's goal. The local keeper was inspired tonight and Zidane and Ronaldo missed a couple of shots that could have opened the score. There were good news coming from Porto as McCarthy's goal allowed Madrid into the last sixteen, leaving Matthäus' squad of of the next round. The Balkan team did not show much attacking move. To mend this, the local coach drew on his top-class player Drulovic (65'), who enjoyed one of the clearest opportunities to score.

The final stretch of the play went on under both teams' awareness of the white superiority, despite Real's lack of good aiming at the home goal. It was rather surprising that Partizan did not stalk Casillas' goal more often, as they knew they were out of the tournament. This draw puts Madrid into the last-sixteen thanks to Porto's win against Olympique. Today Figo got the qualification as a gift for his 31st birthday.

THE MATCH:
0 - PARTIZAN: Pantic; Djordjevic, West, Bajic, Savic, Malbasa (Rzasa 18´); Duljaj, Nadj (Drulovic 65´), Ilic; Iliev and Delibasic (Stojanovski 45´).
0 - REAL MADRID: Casillas; Salgado, Roberto Carlos (Guti 11´), Pavon, Raul Bravo; Helguera, Beckham, Figo, Zidane; Raul and Ronaldo.
REFEREE: Cosimo Bolognino (Italy)
OTHER FACTS: Champions League Matchday 4, Group F. Partizan Stadium, 32.000 people (full). Riki and Juanfran were ruled out of this outing by Carlos Queiroz. Temperature under 0º when the match kicked off. Partizan fans had already filled up the stands one hour ahead of kickoff time.

Lord Jesus it is you, who wakes me up every day
And I am forever grateful for your love..
.. this is why I pray
You let me touch so many people, and it's all for the good
I influenced so many children, I never thought that I would
And I couldn't take credit for the love they get
because it all comes from you Lord
I'm just the one that's givin it
And when it seems like the pressure gets to be too much
I take time out and pray, and ask that you be my crutch
Lord I am not perfect by a longshot -- I confess to you daily
But I work harder everyday, and I hope that you hear me
In my heart I mean well, but if you'll help me to grow
then what I have in my heart, will begin to show
And when I get goin, I'm not lookin back for NOTHIN
Cause I will know where I'm headed, cause I'm so tired of the sufferin
I stand before you, a weakened version of, your reflection
Beggin for direction, for my soul needs resurrection
I don't deserve what you've given me, but you never took it from me
because I am grateful, and I use it, and I do not, worship money
If what you want from me is to bring your children to you
my regret is only having one life to do it, instead of two
Amen

3-0: Thanks to Ronaldo's Leadership

Queiroz had already warned, “Ronaldo will score, for sure”. The Brazilian kept his coach’s word and scored two awesome goals and gave Figo the third one. All three targets were fantastic and meant a hard blow to Athletic Bilbao, which tonight did a wonderful game, though Casillas proved unbeatable. The white goalie saved three clear shots and so did Aranzubía when Beckham tried his goal in his return to the field. The Englishman had total control of the midfield. This deserved win has put Real at the top of the standings. The second half was diametrically the opposite to the first one. Madrid showed the strongest determination with total control from start to end. Ronaldo gave his individual show of actions that led to the second goal that made the white fans hit the roof. It was worth it. His individual action, dodging half of the opposing team, will be included in the list of top goals of the seasons, no doubt about that. And so will the third goal of the night, which arrived right after the second when the Brazilian put the target at Figo’s feet. The game was settled and Athletic Bilbao was seriously wounded, though not dead. Madrid managed the play nice and easy thanks to the great contribution of Zidane and, particularly that of Beckaham, who did wonderfully. The English footballer came back on after his injury to show he is playing an essential role in the team, helping both in defence and attack. He deserved a target, but the visiting keeper got in his way with an awesome clear when the sphere seemed to be reaching the net. The audience gave him a big ovation when he was replaced. It was the best reward Beckham could get in acknowledgment of his spotless performance. Casillas also deserved such ovation after four fantastic saves that left Bilbao without any goal to take back home.

REAL MADRID: Casillas; Salgado, Helguera, Raul Bravo, Roberto Carlos; Beckham (Borja, min. 88), Guti; Figo, Raul, Zidane; and Ronaldo.
ATHLETIC: Aranzubia; Iraola (Urzaiz, min. 55), Lacruz, Karanka, Del Horno; Luis Prieto (Cesar, min. 66), Gurpegui, Etxeberria, Tiko, Jonan Garcia (Guerrero, min. 79); and Ezquerro.
REFEREE: Gonzalez Vazquez, Galicia Referees Association. Yellow cards to Salgado (16’), Guti (25’), Tiko (34’), Beckham (44’), Joan Garcia, Del Horno, Zidane.
GOALS:
1-0: Min. 33: Helguera kicks the ball lightly, Ronaldo controls it with his chest to put it down on the ground. Fantastic target.
2-0: Min. 54: Ronaldo dribbles past two opposing players, three bicyle kicks past Luis Prieto and beats Aranzubia with a cross shot. Another great goal.
3-0: Min. 69: Extraordinary pass by Ronaldo to Figo, who beats an empty goal.
OTHER FACTS: Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Liga Matchday 10. Tickets sold out.

0-0: Whites Draw in La Romareda

Real Madrid did not find the way to beat the home keeper who eventually became the best player in his squad. The Whites were one man short over the last twenty minutes of play following Pavón's dismissal. However, Raul, Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Zidane, Figo and Guti all had their chance to break through the local wall, but, in the end, none of them was lucky enough. Number 14 stood out as best player of the game on Queiroz' side on the very same day of his ninth anniversary as First Division player. The point earned in Zaragoza does not give Real the top position. Athletic Bilbao will be visiting Bernabeu next Saturday in another Liga encounter.

Lainez' performance progressed just at the same pace as Madrid's charges on his goal. Queiroz' boys seemed a shooting machine, but without hitting a target. The white control suffered a setback when Pavón was sent off after his second yellow with twenty minutes left. However, the command of the game remained in the visitors' hands as they keep dominating the play. Solari came on to rearrange the layout of the white team fifteen minutes before the end.

The late minutes of play were a constant exchange of strokes on each goal. Entering the field with five minutes lef, Portillo could not find the way to the net either. The point won in Zaragoza was not enough for Real to keep a temporary leadership on the table. Next encounter will be staged on Saturday against Athletic Bilbao at Bernabeu.

THE MATCH:
0 – REAL ZARAGOZA: Lainez; Rebosio, Milito, Toledo, Alvaro; Ponzio, Soriano, Corona (Inaki 86´), Savio (Cani 76´); Galletti and Villa.
0 – REAL MADRID: Casillas; Roberto Carlos, Michel Salgado, Raul Bravo, Pavon; Helguera, Guti, Figo, Zidane (Portillo 86´); Raul and Ronaldo (Solari 76´).
REFEREE: Mejuto Gonzalez (Asturias Referee Association). He sent Pavon off after two yellow cards (9´ and 71´). Yellow cards also to Ponzio (30´) and Helguera (41´).
OTHER FACTS: Liga Matchday 9. La Romareda Stadium, full. Several Real Zaragoza players, along with Míchel Salgado and Roberto Carlos, worn special shirts to cheer up Nacho (Savio Bortolini's consultant), who had suffered a car accident recently.

3-1: The White's Beat Racing Santander!

It was the scoring skills of Queiroz' men which in the end beat Racing Santander. Tonight the rival presented all the reasons for their current standing on the table. They took the lead in the very early minutes and played wonderfully, but Zidane and Raul were on the opposing side to turn the match round. It proved one of the most exciting games Bernabeu fans have watched recently.

The draw on the scoreboard seemed more and more fixed as the game went on. But captain Raul had not stepped in yet and he finally did at the best possible moment, as he usually does. The second white goal was a work of art. Guti receives a ball in his area, controls it all the way to the midfield, where Figo gets it and sends it to Raul. The forward had been following the whole move from the beginning and was at the right spot to net the ball (79'). What an awesome goal! It was a hard blow to Racing Santander. They were touched. The scoring show had not finished yet, as Raul consolidated the victory with another timely target (90').

THE MATCH:
REAL MADRID: Casillas; Salgado, Raul Bravo, Pavon, Roberto Carlos; Helguera, Cambiasso (Guti, 62’), Figo, Zidane; Raul and Ronaldo (Solari, 72’).
RACING DE SANTANDER: Ricardo; Corominas, Neru, Juanma, Pablo Casar; Moran, Diego, Nafti, Benayoun; Regueiro and Bodipo.
GOALS:
0-1. 15’: No man's ball in Real's area, Benayoun comes across the sphere, turns around and slots it.
1-1. 26’: Great volley by Zidane, right-footed shot, the ball gets in half way up besides the left post.
2-1. 79’: Raul rounds off a great interplay by Guti, Zidane and Figo.
3-1: 90’: Raul scores again from the area.
REFEREE: Javier Turienzo Alvarez, Castilla-Leon Referees Association. Yellow cards to Moran, Nafti, Zidane, Helguera and Guti.
OTHER FACTS: Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Liga Matchday 8.

Pig

Isn't it strange
How we move our lives for another day
Like skipping a beat
What if a great wave should
wash us all away
Just thinking out loud
Don't mean to dwell on this dying thing
But looking at blood
It's alive right now
Deep and sweet within
Pouring through our veins
Intoxicate moving wine to tears
Drinking it deep
Then an evening spent dancing
It's you and me
This love will open our world
From the dark side we can see a glow of something bright
There's much more than we see here
Don't burn the day away

Is this not enough
This blessed sip of life
Is it not enough
Staring down at the ground
Oh then complain and pray
more from above
Greedy little pig
Stop just watch your world trickle away
Oh it's your problem now
It'll all be dead and gone in
a few short years
Just love will open our eyes
Just love will put the hope in our minds
Much more than we could ever know
Don't burn the day away

Come sister
my brother
Shake up your bones shake up your feet
I'm saying open up
And let the rain come pouring in
Wash out this tired notion
That the best is yet to come
But while you're dancing on the ground
Don't think of when you're gone
Love! love!? what more is there?
We need the light of love in here
Don't beat your head
Dry your eyes
Let the love in there
There are bad times
But that's ok
Just look for love in it
Don't burn the day away

Look
Here are we
On this starry night staring into space
And I must say
I feel as small as dust
Lying down here
What point could there be troubling
Head down wondering what will
become of me
Why concern we cannot see
But no reason to abandon it
Time is short but that's all right
Maybe I'll go in the middle of the night
Take your hands from your eyes, my love
Everything must end some time
Don't burn the day away

"1-0: The Whites Win Again!"

Madrid beat Partizan in front of the white old-timers, who were watching their successors from royal box. The game went on smoothly as if all the twenty-two players on the field were convinced of the white superiority. The scoreboard, though, did not quite show the fierce attacks displayed by Real. Partizan placed all the emphasis on the defence and charged on Casillas' goal only in the second half. Raul's goal proved determinant and as valuable as that of Mijatovic at Amsterdam Arena. In the company of the achievers of the Sixth, the "heroe" of the Seventh was the honorary witness of another step to the Tenth.
With the control of the ball and the mifield at Real's feet, the game kicked off just in the most suitable way to the local squad. Most dangerous actions came up on Figo's flank, but the shooting failed. The third keeper of Partizan got a chance to prove his skills only after 29 minutes into the match. It was a clean strike by Ronaldo. The visiting keeper deflected it to the corner. All other previous attempts went wide: Roberto Carlos' touch (10'), Raúl's header (12'), a well-aimed shot by Figo (16'), a free kick taken by Beckham (23'). The latter brushed the post. Nothing on the home goal. Had the Yugoslavian fans wanted to see Casillas' skills, they would have had to watch a tape from past matches. But then, we all know about the white keeper's abilities. The visitors did not shoot at goal once leaving Casillas unbeaten.

THE MATCH:
1 - REAL MADRID: Casillas; Salgado, Pavon (Guti, min. 46), Raul Bravo, Roberto Carlos; Helguera, Beckham; Figo, Zidane; Raul and Ronaldo.
0 - PARTIZAN: Pantic; Savic, Djordjevic, Malbasa, Rzasa; Drulovic, Ilic, Nadj (Cakar, min. 91), Duljaj; Ognjanovic and Iliev.
REFEREE: Massimo Busacca (SWI). Yellow cards to Beckham and Guti.
GOALS: 1-0: Min. 38: Raul, header, from Figo's shot.
OTHER FACTS: Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Champions League Matchday 3. Porto won in Marseille (2-3), in the other game of the group.

Ronaldo: "I do not get tired of winning prizes"

A new chance to acknowledge Ronaldo's ambition. After receiving his second EFE Trophy as best South American player last season, the forward expressed his whish to keep on winning accolades. Recently he stated that this is possibly "the best year in his career". For the time being, the statistics are in his favour and give him all the credits he needs for the rest of the season. He hit six in Liga, two in Champions League and he also scored in the Spanish Super Cup. Ronaldo wants to remain at the top.

You have been honoured with a good number of accolades ever since you came to Real Madrid.
-I would like to keep on winning titles and do even better. Winning is not an easy thing, that's why I must carry on working. I am very ambitious and I intend to win more trophies. I do not want to stop achieving more prizes.

You said this could be the best season in your sports career?
-I am going through an amazing phase, I am feeling very well now, though the season is very long and we must carry on with our preparation. This is essential to keep up our level.

What do you think about Michel Salgado's renewal?
-Personally, I would renew Michel Salgado and Roberto Carlos' contracts. The current team is giving good results and can go on making Madrid fans very happy. I am sure the President will make an effort to reach an agreement.

Apparently Abramovich wants to sign half of the Madrid players?
-No wonder, this is the best team of the world, all the clubs want to get reinforcements from our ranks.

What do you think about Cuper's dismissal?
-I am glad for Inter fans. The Club has lost a great deal in the past few years with this coach.

0-2: The Whites came on for a win and they ran out with it

The Whites came on for a win and they ran out with it. Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos gave the 0-2 victory to their team. After this match against Vigo, Real stands at the top positions of the Liga table. Queiroz’ boys succeded on this tough ground thanks to their work, quality and sacrifice. The first half was just awesome: we enjoyed some perfect passes, dribblings and attacks from both flanks. Besides, Real managed to face the home side’s most aggressive drive. They conveyed a very serious image that has left no doubt about the Whites’ performance on the road. Partizan will be their next rival.

Real’s attitude ruined all sorts of starting strategies. Ahead of the encounter Queiroz had already warned that “we will have to display all our quality and sacrifice”. His men did exactly what he asked for. We could see how the attacking line was deployed very near the opposing goal. This gave a lot of trouble to the locals’ freedom to move around the field as they lost a good number of balls. The resulting effect was Real’s undisputable control of the game. Another great feature of the Whites’ play was their sealing-off of every gap, their passing and their smooth team work. Madrid moved around the field very skilfully when they did not have the ball and proved very dangerous on the opposing goal every time the ball was at their feet. Roberto Carlos and Salgado did a wonderful job sending the ball ahead on the flanks. Figo got every single pass.

As the game went on, Real played more and more like clockwork. They put the home side on the ropes on three occasions: Zidane’s centre shot (11’), a very close-range missile by Ra?l (14’) and Ronaldo’s heel kick hitting the post (20’). The goal was bound to come any time. Ronaldo eventually got it in the 24th minute. Ra?l Bravo stole the ball, on to Zidane who runs to the flank. Figo receives and gives the great pass. The impressive local defence collapsed with these four moves. Just like last campaign, the Brazilian forward opened the score in Vigo.

THE MATCH:
0 - CELTA: Cavallero; Velasco, Caceres, Contreras, Juanfran; Angel, Luccin, Jose Ignacio (Vagner, 65’); Gustavo Lopez (Jesuli, 31’), Mostovoi; and Milosevic (Catania, 56’).
2 - REAL MADRID: Casillas; Salgado, Pavon, Raul Bravo, Roberto Carlos; Helguera, Beckham; Figo (Guti, 77’), Zidane; Raul and Ronaldo (Solari, 85’).
GOALS:
0-1 (24’): Ronaldo finishes up a perfect interplay between Zidane and Figo.
0-2 (65’): Roberto Carlos comes up with a powerful right-footed shot that beats Cavallero, after having hit Contreras.
REFEREE: Perez Burrull (Cantabria Referees Association). He cautioned Milosevic, Beckham, Raul Bravo and Juanfran.
STADIUM: Balaidos. Liga Matchday 7.

Come fill me up,
I hear it now, coming down,
and my voice cries out.
I only hope your the one,
My words will land upon.

I see you now,
Standing there, near the pool,
i can swear, like an angel,
That fell down from above..
To wake me up,
From this Dreamless sleep.
Please wake me up..

Would you, take my hand?
If i'd ask, for a dance,
You and me,
In these stars up above

Watch that be just not the way
Left and right we're different..
What live, then to give, what to become to take my time
What's this, what to give not to get home all alone.

I just came from a Team building weekend with the youth in Calatagan.. We didn't have alcohol. It wasn't allowed.. (damn!). Anyways, For some reason I survived and enjoyed the whole weekend (maybe because we I had a little help from the Dude up Above). I thought of course, since we were in a beach house and alcohol wasn't around this would be a really fucked up weekend. But It ended up to be pretty interesting. There are some people in the youth that i just didn't want to Conversate to maybe because i thought that they just would jive with my beat.. But last night, I found out that they're aight. Those People were cool, all along. hehehe.. Anyways. Next time i'll make sure there's alcohol. hehehe I want to see them drunk. To Jason and Pisha, Good job on the Weekend.. Nice one! Anyways.. Adios!

0-3: The White's Reserve Beat Sanse

Real has passed the first Spanish Cup test with a team made up of eight reserves. The Whites did not have much trouble in defeating a very hostile San Sebastian. Raul, Portillo and Cambiasso's target made the win. Besides, Riki and Jordi had their dreams come true as they got the chance for a first-team debut. The victory had qualified Madrid for the last sixteen, which will be playing next December 17th. Solari made it all more exciting with his three shots hitting the woodwork.

Last year he became the Spanish Cup top scorer and this year he will not let this reputation down. Guti helped him in this purpose. The white midfielder sent the forward a pass when he was all by himself facing Leal, who, despite touching the ball, did not manage to clear (57'). When the win seemed settled Queiroz started to make the changes. Jordi came on for Raul to play his first official game (64'). Guti had to play as second forward leaving the reserve in the midfield together with Cambiasso.

The final part of the game was a constant series of goal-scoring opportunities. Solari, Portillo and Guti were very close, but the one who got it was Cambiasso when he intercepted a save in the penalty area. Riki also made his debut in the first team and showed us the reason why there are nine targets to his name with the reserve team. Real Madrid passed the Spanish Cup first round without much showy playing but with lots of good work. The nest encounter in this competition will take place next December 17th.

THE MATCH:
0 – SANSE: Leal; Vaqueriza, C. Alberto, Canizares, Romero, Blanco (Carlos Lopez 41´), Torregrosa, Nacho, Redondo (Arias 60´), Javi Moreno (Espino 60´) and Valdivia.
3 – REAL MADRID: Cesar; Borja, Roberto Carlos, Pavon, Ra?l Bravo; Cambiasso, Guti (Riki 80´), Nunez, Solari; Raul (Jordi 64´) and Portillo.
GOALS:
0-1, min.28: Cambiasso assists Raul who beats Leal after having got around the centre of the local defence.
0-2, min.57: Guti passes it to Portillo when he is all by himself, the forward only needs to chip it into the net.
0-3, min.87: Cambiasso scores right after a few saves by Sanse defence.
REFEREE: Ramirez Dominguez, Andalusi Referee Association. He cautioned Nunez (63´), Guti (64´) and Carlos Lopez (82´).
OTHER FACTS: Spanish Cup last thirty-two. Matapinoneras Stadium, 5.000 spectators. Florentino Perez watched the game from the box. Real Madrid B coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro also was there sitting at Queiroz' bench.

Our 2 Month Old Dachund,Colgate Met our Creator this evening. He Was Ran over by this Crazy ass pick up who was driving like a maniac... He will surely be missed..

2-1:The Whites Beat R.C.D. Espanyol

It was a matter of time. After 51 minutes of play Real finally managed to break through the sound defensive wall deployed by Clemente. Despite their great endurance during the first half, Espanyol could do nothing about the wonderful actions of the white midfielders, probably the ones with the best technique in the world. Then there was Ronaldo’s eye for the goal. An eye that worked today again one year after his debut with those decisive targets he scored that time too. The Brazilian forward was the only one that finally converted all the chances his team had on their feet. Figo missed a penalty kick and his teammates wasted more than ten clear opportunities to score. The score could have become a stuffing.
Although there was no goals scored in the first half, Madrid did a lot of good football. Everything worked just fine for them thanks to their overwhelming control of the ball. The whites rolled it very wisely and put it inches from the opposing net. But it never got to touch it on any of the ten clear chances: a free kick by Beckham brushed the post; two powerful shots by Roberto Carlo and Figo were saved by Lemmens; Zidane’s voley from the opposite end of the field forced the goalie to work hard. It would have been an awesome goal.

THE MATCH:
2 - REAL MADRID: Casillas; Salgado, Pavon, Helguera, Roberto Carlos; Beckham (Cambiasso, 87), Guti, Figo, Zidane (Solari, min. 87); Raul and Ronaldo (Portillo, min. 87).
1 - ESPANYOL: Lemmens; Tayfun (Velamazan, min. 68), Jarque, Domoraud, Carlos García, David Garcia; Bastia (Oscar, min. 78), Morales (Alex, min. 70), Wome, Maxi; Raul Molina.
REFEREE: Miguel Perez Lasa, Basque Referee Association. Yellow cards to Carlos Garcia, Raul, Zidane, Salgado and Javier Clemente, Espanyol coach. Wome was sent off.
GOALS:
1-0: Min. 51: Great pass from Salgado to Raul, who turns around in the area and sends it to Ronaldo.
2-0: Min. 82: Ronaldo, header, from Beckham’s pass
2-1: : Min. 92: Alex hit the net by a few inches.
OTHER FACTS: Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, almost full. Liga Matchday 6. Mild weather and field of play in excellent conditions.

1-3:The White's beat Porto!

The warning at Mestalla took effect at Das Antas. Real have taken a big step towards the Champions League last-sixteen round following today’s 1-3 win against Porto. Helguera, Solari and Zidane’s targets were the reward to the Whites’ practical and effective play. Local player Costinha opened the score giving rise to some fear in the 1300 white fans that had traveled to Portugal. But there is more value to this win considering the fact that Beckham did not appear and Raúl only came on when the game was already solved. The three points earned tonight add up to the other three from Marseille, which all together puts the Whites at the top of the Group F.

Porto gave an early warning with Pedro Mendes’ long-range shot, though the local goal came later on in the sixth minute. Casillas saved a shot by Derlei and Costinha only had to chip the ball into the net. The goal knocked Real out and left them uncapable of stopping the home side’s drive. Mourinho’s plane was working fine. The pressure and the quick movement of the ball prevented Guti and Helguera from linking to the foward line.

Real was going through their worst moments. They did not manage to put one dangerous action together and the home side did not allow them into their ground. But just then Figo came up with some of his best play this season. Valente could do nothing to stop his country fellow and then we started to see more danger on Baía’s goal. Santiago Solari kicked a centre shot that was missed by Ronaldo, though not by Helguera who headed the ball taking the goalie by surprise (27’).

THE MATCH:
1 – PORTO: Baia; Pedro Emanuel (Jankauskas 69´), Ricardo Carvalho, Costinha, Nuno Valente, Deco, Derlei, Maniche, Paulo Ferreira, Pedro Mendes (Bosingwa 45´) and Ricardo Fernández (McCarthy 45´).
3 – REAL MADRID: Casillas; Míchel Salgado, Roberto Carlos, Pavon, Raul Bravo; Helguera, Guti, Solari (Cambiasso, +91'), Figo, Zidane and Ronaldo (Raul 82´).
GOALS:
1-0, min.6: Costinha cuts off a save by Casillas.
1-1, min.27: Solari kicks a centre shot from the left and Helguera beats Baía with a header.
1-2, min.36: Zidane begins a counterattack, Ronaldo carries on with it, Roberto Carlos passes it to Solari who dribbles past Baía and beats him.
1-3, min.66: Zidane stages a rehearsed move from Figo’s kick.
REFEREE: Pierluigi Collina (Italy). He cautioned Pavón (6´), Helguera (18´), Deco (70´)
OTHER FACTS: Champions League Matchday 2, Group F. Das Antas Stadium. 3/4attendance (37.506 people). Carlos Queiroz ruled out Jurado, Riki and Borja. Florentino Pérez watched the game at the royal box. About 1.500 Spanish followers were present at the stands.

Real Madrid C.F. and F.C. Porto

Real Madrid go to Portugal looking to build on their 4-2 victory over Olimpique Marseille on Matchday 1. However the 2002 Champions League winners were brought down to earth on Saturday, falling to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Valencia in the Primera Divisi?n. Coach Carlos Queiroz lost the services of England captain David Beckham in that match, while defender Rubén Gonz?lez is also ruled out with a dislocated shoulder. Leading scorer in Champions League history, Ra?l Gonz?lez, has recovered from a hip injury enough to make the bench however. Real will hope to improve on their dismal recent record away from home in Europe, a run which has seen them win only once in their last seven European trips.
Porto coach José Morinho has been dealt a blow with the loss of captain Jorge Costa, who misses the game with a knee injury. Russian playmaker Dmitri Alenichev is also absent through injury. Last season's UEFA Cup winners make two changes from the side which beat Vit?ria Guimar?es 2-1 on Saturday, with Pedro Emanuel and Maniche replacing Costa and Edgaras Jankauskas, who drops to the bench. Porto have a great recent record at home in European competition having won six of their last seven games at Antas.
Welcome to the Antas Stadium for this evening’s UEFA Champions League Group F encounter between FC Porto and Real Madrid CF. This Iberian derby will be the tenth meeting between the two sides, all of which have been in the European Champion Clubs’ Cup and the Champions League. The Spanish champions have come out on top, winning eight compared to Porto’s two wins in those encounters. Real Madrid also won on their last visit to Antas, a 2-1 victory in 2001-02.

2-0:Real's First La Liga Loss

Real Madrid wasted the opportunity to lead the standings after their visit to Valencia. The Whites were defeated by the two targets that Valencia hit during this beautiful and sporting game. The locals had a great warming atmosphere in their favour together with an early 1-0 score thanks to Mista’s goal. The visitors did not had many gaps to break through the organised local defence. Besides, Oliveira (scorer of the second target) came up with some quick counterattacks that jeopardized Casillas’ goal. It is the first Liga loss this year for Real. Now it is time to focus on the next visit to Porto.

Queiroz made some changes to his tactics after the break. Figo moved over to the left flank and Beckham to the right one. Cambiasso and Zidane took care of the midfield. Nine minutes later, the coach put more emphasis on the attack by sending out Portillo. These changes meant a better control of the ball but without many scoring opportunities. Valencia did not change its tactics though, they prefered to take advantage of any slip and leave it to the speed of their forwards.

The whole thing went worse as the game went on. Madrid still did not find any gap and Valencia was coming up with more and more dangerous actions. One of them led to the second local goal. Valencia consolidated the win without giving up on their fight. Nobody could possibly felt disappointed after tonight’s show on the field. It was the thrill of football on stage. By the way, the smoke in the air came from the burning of nearby rice fields.

THE MATCH:
2 - VALENCIA: Canizares; Curro Torres, Navarro, Marchena, Carboni; Albelda (Sissoko, min. 90), Baraja, Vicente, Jorge Lopez; Aimar (Oliveira, min. 29) and Rufete (Mista, min. 69).
0 - REAL MADRID: Casillas; Salgado, Pavon, Ruben Bravo, Roberto Carlos; Cambiasso (Solari, min. 72), Beckham, Figo, Zidane; Guti (Portillo, min. 54) and Ronaldo.
REFEREE: Moreno Delgado, Catalonia Referees Association. Yellow cards to Vicente, Jorge Pérez and Salgado.
GOALS:
Min. 5: Mista beats Casillas with a close-range shot.
Min. 70: Oliveira, following several saves. OTHER FACTS: Mestalla Stadium, full. Liga Matchday 5.
