1-0: The Whites Leave Top Position Because of Sociedad

And leaving behind the honorary Winter Winner title. Real Madrid lost the top position in San Sebastian after a very tight encounter against Real Sociedad. The home side took the lead early in the second half thanks to Karpin's action. Guti replaced Beckahm in the starting lineup, while Westerveld did not appear with Real Sociedad tonight, though Alberto did a good job in his place. This player made it impossible for Real Madrid to earn more points from this visit to San Sebastian. It is the third defeat this season, which has put Queiroz' side out of the top position down to second, a point behind Valencia.
